Weird flying thing over Norway proves not as exciting as RocketFuse news

There's been a lot of news reports on a weird flying something over Norway. We have conducted our own investigation and we can confirm it was not, we repeat NOT an escaped rocket from RocketFuse.

However, we do have some exciting news about RocketFuse:

Adrenaline Snowboarding by Sandbox

Our good friends over at Sandbox have just launched their first iPhone game, Adrenaline Snowboarding. We've been playing it and we love their style, so congrats guys!

Here's how it looks:

Saucier in the Works

Beetlefeet and I met up on the weekend for some development cramming on a game discussed awhile back called Saucier. Here's a work-in-progress mockup.

It's another iPhone game, of which the premise is to fling sauce at hungry, bigmouthed customers with pet pigs. If you feed them the wrong sauce they will be faced with severe dietary consequences and/or vomiting, and you will be faced with their wrath!

RocketFuse Rockets

I got all artz'n'craftz on the weekend and whipped up a few rockets for Dadams and DollarmAnthony to incorporate in some travel photography. They're both taking the plunge into married life and will surely make good use of their rockets on honeymoons in Japan and Las Vegas respectively.

Meanwhile, here in Perth we thought we'd give them a test run.

Space Crash is a Go!

Space crash is now live on the app store! Get it for FREE on the App Store now! Read more and watch the video trailer HERE. I'm quite happy to have had this game go from not existing in any way to in the hands of hundreds of players in less than 3 weeks!

Thanks again for all the help from other RocketHands and the kind and congratulatory words from everyone!

The Theory of Free, or: Why SpaceCrash?

So you may have noticed there's a lot of buzz around the RocketHQ about our next game, SpaceCrash

SpaceCrash is going through the approval process over at Apple as we speak, and will be the first free RocketHands game available on the iPhone.  "Why SpaceCrash?" you may ask.  "Why not RocketFuse Lite?" you may also ask.  "Was that with anchovies?" is a question you certainly would not ask, if you know what's good for you.

So lets start from the beginning.

1 Week = 1 Game Teaser Video

Here's a Space Crash work-in-progress teaser video.

1 Week = 1 Game Art Review

I've been well busy, what with my exhibition opening rapidly approaching (lolplug), and now that all my promo materials are in for print I've been able to devote time to Space Crash!

I've been making space debris assets thus far, as well as working on the graphic design side of things (banner and logo).

Here's a sneak peak at the assets, and a snippet of the new background.

1 Week = 1 Game Day 5

Well I've been pretty slack with the posts here on rockethands.com but I have been tweeting a bit for those who follow me :)

The game is basically feature complete. It mainly just needs some final assets and a finalised name, banner and logo.

1 Week = 1 Game End of Day 2

Well I'm about to call it for dinner. I might get some more work done later tonight but officially I'm 2 days in to 1 Week = 1 Game.

So far so good. I had a bit of inertia today with physics and then with refactoring some code. Originally I'd planned to do simple collision detection but pretty early this morning decided that wasn't going to fly and I went for a proper physics engine (chipmunk which is packaged with cocos2d) to do my collisions (just detection, not response).
